Currently planned construction dates.
We, the builders of the Crown Bridges Light Rail, are also building a new beach and streets for Helsinki residents, as well as a new Hakaniemi Bridge. We are also fixing your sewers, water pipes and electricity and telecommunication cables.
Schedule
In the first phase of the project, a connection from Laajasalo to Hakaniemi will be built, and from Hakaniemi to the city centre in the second phase.
The goal is for passenger transport to start between Laajasalo and Hakaniemi in 2027. There is no decision on the construction schedule of the connection from Hakaniemi to the city centre as of yet.
In 2021, we will start the work in Hakaniemi and Kruunuvuorenranta, the western end of Koirasaarentie. In addition to this, the plan is to begin dredging work around Korkeasaari and preparations for building the Finkensilta and Kruunuvuorensilta bridges.
Construction of a new Hakaniemensilta Bridge and Merihaansilta Bridge will begin in Hakaniemi in 2022. In Laajasalo in Haakoninlahti and along Koirasaarentie the work will begin in 2022.
In 2023 we are working along the entire Koirasaarentie as well as on Laajasalontie.
The schedule is based on current information. It may change along the way and will be updated as changes are made.
Traffic arrangements during the work
The construction years will be difficult for everyone. Even though we do not want to, we will have to hinder your everyday life. You can travel everywhere on foot, in a wheelchair, by bike and by car, but for safety reasons, your routes will often be longer than usual.
We will place signs on the streets so that you can easily see which route will take you where. If we fail to do so, please let us know. We will also provide information about upcoming changes in advance on this website and Facebook, among other platforms.

Working hours and noise
The construction work will unavoidably cause loud noise and dust, which we will combat by all available means. We will mainly be working on weekdays from 7:00 to 18:00.
