The planned beginning years of construction in different areas.

We, the builders of the Crown Bridges Light Rail, are also building a new beach and streets for Helsinki residents, as well as a new Hakaniemi Bridge. We are also fixing your sewers, water pipes and electricity and telecommunication cables.

In the spring of 2021, we will begin the tram line project with external work in Hakaniemi and Kruunuvuorenranta, at the western end of Koirasaarentie. In the autumn, the plan is to begin dredging work around Korkeasaari and preparations for building the Finke Bridge and Kruunuvuori Bridge.

In 2022, the construction work will be expanded to Haakoninlahti in Kruunuvuorenranta, and to the eastern part of Koirasaarentie and Laajasalontie in Laajasalo. Construction of a new Hakaniemi Bridge will begin in Hakaniemi.

In 2023, construction work will also begin at the ends of the line, meaning the surroundings of the Central Railway Station, as well as Reposalmentie, Ilomäentie and Ollinraitio in Laajasalo. Construction of the Merihaka Bridge can begin in 2023–2024.

In 2024, construction work will begin with full force in Nihti. Finally, work will commence on Siltasaarenkatu in 2025.

The goal is to have the connection ready by late 2026 and to start passenger traffic on the tramline in 2027.

The schedule is based on current information. It may change along the way and will be updated as changes are made.

Traffic arrangements during the work

The construction years will be difficult for everyone. Even though we do not want to, we will have to hinder your everyday life. You can travel everywhere on foot, in a wheelchair, by bike and by car, but for safety reasons, your routes will often be longer than usual.

We will place signs on the streets so that you can easily see which route will take you where. If we fail to do so, please let us know. We will also provide information about upcoming changes in advance on this website and Facebook, among other platforms.

You will find information about traffic arrangements during the work on the map on the Finnish-language area-specific pages and in the news listed on them.

Working hours and noise

The construction work will unavoidably cause loud noise and dust, which we will combat by all means available. As a rule, we will be working on weekdays from 7.00 a.m. to 06.00 p.m.

On some occasions, we will have to work at night, whereby we will send a bulletin in advance to apartments located near the worksite. We will also provide information about any night work and particularly noisy work phases on this website and other platforms, such as Facebook.
